Intern Program Overview:

Summer interns work full-time (40 hours per week) from May through August. Candidates must be currently enrolled college students actively pursuing a degree to participate in the internship program. Job Purpose The CNH Soil and Crop Modeling (SCM) Team develops cutting-edge simulation technologies that help design and optimize agricultural equipment used around the world. Our team combines expertise in engineering, physics, and computational modeling to simulate how soil and crop materials interact with machine components, enabling faster innovation and more efficient product development. SCM engineers utilize advanced modeling techniques, including the Discrete Element Method (DEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), to evaluate machine performance in virtual environments. These tools allow the team to support concept development, solve complex engineering challenges, and improve equipment designs long before physical testing begins. As an SCM intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing directly to the development of virtual crop and soil models, simulation workflows, and validation activities. Interns are valued members of the team and play an active role in advancing CNH's simulation capabilities and engineering innovation. Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities may include:
  • Develop and validate virtual crop flow models for combine harvesting systems using Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulation software.
  • Apply programming and API development techniques to enhance simulation model physics and improve the representation of grain-to-equipment interactions.
  • Perform laboratory measurements of physical and mechanical crop properties, process experimental data, and incorporate findings into crop and equipment simulation models.
  • Expand CNH's library of virtual crop models used to simulate threshing, separation, and grain handling processes within combine harvesters.
  • Collaborate with crop flow modeling, design, and test engineering teams to support the design, validation, and continuous improvement of CNH harvesting equipment.
Experience Required Preferred Qualifications Candidates may be pursuing an Associates, Technical, Bachelor's, or Post-graduate degree in the following majors or a related field: Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Biological/Biosystem/Bioresource Engineering, Agronomy Pay Transparency The annual salary for this role is USD $29.87
