Cutback is an AI-powered video editor that understands the raw footage, organizes and created rough edits. By cutting out repetitive and time-consuming tasks, we help creators focus on what matters most: creative storytelling. Today, Cutback is trusted by professional editors worldwide, from Netflix production studios to YouTubers with millions of subscribers. As we enter our next phase of growth, we're looking for a Product Engineer who can entwine cutting-edge AI capabilities with intuitive video creation.

What You'll Do Ship End-to-End Features:

Own core user-facing features from ideation and architectural design to UI implementation and production launch. Build the

AI Editing Experience:

Connect multimodal AI pipelines and agents with responsive product interfaces so complex video logic feels effortless to the user.

Elevate Output Quality:

Iterate rapidly on user feedback, telemetry, and evaluation frameworks to ensure generated edits feel natural, precise, and intentional.

Collaborate Across Functions:

Work closely with product designers, ML engineers, and creators to scope roadmaps, solve technical ambiguities, and ship cohesive product experiences. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of experience building and scaling web applications in high-growth, product-driven tech environments. Full-Stack /

Product Proficiency:

Strong expertise across modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, TypeScript) and backend systems/APIs (e.g., Node, Python, Go).

Extreme Ownership:

Demonstrated ability to manage features end-to-end, navigate technical tradeoffs independently, and maintain a high velocity of shipping.

AI-Native Mindset:

High comfort building with or integrating LLMs, generative APIs, or AI tools into production software.

High Craft & Standards:

Keen eye for product quality, responsiveness, and subtle UX details that make tools feel polished and trustworthy.

Strong Communication:

Ability to articulate technical trade-offs clearly to designers, ML researchers, and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to haves Experience building or deploying large-scale multimodal (speech, vision, context) models or AI agents. Experience handling high-throughput, heavy media workloads (video codecs, rendering pipelines, high-bandwidth storage). Background designing evaluation frameworks for subjective, generative, or creative AI outputs. Active creator or background in creative workflows (video editing, post-production, or audio engineering). AI-native workflow—habitually leveraging AI tooling to accelerate development, debugging, and system prototyping.
