Job Title:
Senior Development Engineer Job Description The Senior Development Engineer is a hands-on mechanical product development lead responsible for advancing aerospace hardware from concept through detailed design, prototype fabrication, testing, and customer delivery. The role combines mechanical and electromechanical engineering, project execution, customer interaction, proposal support, and cross-functional technical leadership. Responsibilities Lead the planning, organization, and execution of mechanical system development projects. Guide concept development and mechanical or electromechanical system design. Perform or oversee hands-on 3D CAD and detailed mechanical design. Coordinate multidisciplinary analysis, development, prototype fabrication, and testing. Develop test plans and test procedures. Help program and project leaders meet customer objectives on schedule and within budget. Support proposal development involving advanced mechanical and electromechanical technologies. Interact directly with customers to define needs, present proposals, and participate in project reviews. Collaborate with engineering and technical teams on proposal development and project execution. Support business development by aligning technical capabilities with customer requirements. Essential Skills Strong mechanical engineering foundation. Experience in aerospace mechanical system or hardware development. Hands-on 3D CAD experience. SolidWorks experience preferred, but comparable 3D CAD experience may be considered. GD&T knowledge and the ability to produce or interpret manufacturable engineering drawings. Experience developing test plans and test procedures. Experience taking hardware through concept, design, prototype, and testing. Working knowledge of heat transfer, structural analysis, dynamics and kinematics, advanced materials, and machine design. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute engineering projects. Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Additional Skills & Qualifications SolidWorks experience is preferred. Strong GD&T and drawing-release experience. Experience in mechanical and electromechanical product development. Aerospace prototype fabrication and testing. Qualification or environmental testing. Structural and thermal analysis. Dynamics and kinematics. Advanced or high-strength materials. Customer-facing engineering. Proposal development or technical business development support. Experience coordinating work across design, analysis, manufacturing, test, program management, and customers. Hypersonic, missile, propulsion, space, or defense-hardware development. Work Environment The position involves heavy involvement with mechanical and electromechanical product development and frequent collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams. There is direct customer interaction for needs-definition, proposal reviews, and project reviews. The role supports active aerospace and defense hardware development programs. The work environment offers a 9/80 work schedule, including every other Friday off, and a company holiday shutdown.   • $160000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
