Product Engineer About Alaskan Campers Alaskan Campers is a pioneering manufacturer of premium truck campers built for adventure. Based in Winlock, Washington, we combine rugged craftsmanship with thoughtful innovation to create custom-built pop-up campers designed to handle the outdoors—without sacrificing comfort. Our campers are built by people who take pride in quality, durability, and design. About the Position Alaskan Campers is seeking a Product Engineer to help develop, improve, and support the products that have defined our brand for decades. In this role, you'll work on a wide range of projects involving product design, electrical systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll collaborate with production teams, vendors, and company leadership to enhance existing camper models and bring new ideas from concept to reality. What You'll Be DoingDesign & Product Development Create and maintain 3D models and production drawings using CAD software Develop designs for camper structures, components, and integrated systems Participate in new product development projects from initial concept through production launch Evaluate opportunities to improve product quality, durability, functionality, and manufacturing efficiency Assist with prototype development, testing, and validation Research materials, components, and technologies that support product improvements Engineering & Manufacturing Support Maintain engineering documentation, bills of materials, and drawing revisions Support production teams by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues Develop and update electrical diagrams, wiring documentation, and system specifications as needed Collaborate with suppliers on component selection, manufacturing methods, and product improvements Participate in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis related to product performance and assembly challenges Help ensure products meet applicable safety and quality requirements QualificationsEducation & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience Experience working with product design, manufacturing, or engineering projects Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, or similar platforms Understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes Experience with electrical systems is beneficial but not required Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively Preferred Skills Product development experience from concept through production Familiarity with fabrication, machining, welding, cabinetry, composites, or related manufacturing methods Experience creating technical documentation and engineering drawings Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing principles Experience in RV, automotive, marine, transportation, or outdoor recreation products is a plus What Makes Someone Successful in This Role Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams Self-motivated and comfortable in a fast-moving environment Commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement Interest in products that support outdoor adventure and travel Work Environment Full-time position based in Winlock, Washington Combination of office, engineering, and production-floor work Occasional hands-on testing, prototyping, and product evaluations Ability to safely work around manufacturing equipment and materials Schedule Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Health insurance reimbursement program Paid time off Opportunity to contribute directly to the development of premium truck campers Collaborative team environment with significant ownership and influence Apply Today If you enjoy solving technical challenges, improving products, and working closely with manufacturing teams, we'd love to hear from you.
