Job Description
Raptor Dynamix is seeking an experienced RF Systems Engineer you will design and optimize complex RF components and flight systems, including satellite communication modules, transponders, antennas, SDRs, and frequency converters. You will lead the development lifecycle through all technical phases, maintaining rigorous documentation across architecture design, hardware testing, and operations. Additionally, you will mitigate multipath fading, and manage cascading parameter metrics such as gain, noise figure, and linearity to optimize communication margins. Your work will directly impact system performance through phase noise analysis, frequency coordination, and strategic spectrum allocation management. Minimum Requirements Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in telecommunication systems, RF electronics or antenna. Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers). Knowledge of software-defined radios (SDR). Demonstrated ability to work autonomously across teams and company to drive multi-disciplinary projects to completion. Proven experience building and optimizing RF link budgets. Familiarity with aerospace EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and environmental verification processes. U.S. citizenship required due to federal security clearance eligibility. Preferred Qualifications Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical or RF Engineering. Experience with scripting language Python, MATLAB, or C++ for data analysis and test equipment automation. Advanced knowledge of simulation and analysis platforms such as HFSS, ADS, CST, or STK. Prior experience engineering satellite constellation communication subsystems. Knowledge of telecommunication payloads and standards Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) Experience in space industry The ideal candidate is capable, motivated, and willing to learn and grow as the position evolves. As a RF Systems Engineer, you must be able to:
System Architecture & Trade Studies:
Develop end-to-end RF communications architectures. Perform trade studies on modulation schemes, frequency band selection (L, S, X, and Ka-band), antenna coverage, and multi-access networks.Link Budget Modeling:
Design and maintain detailed RF link budgets for space-to-ground, crosslink, and satellite tracking profiles. Perform co-site interference and antenna pattern coverage analysis.Requirements & Flowdown:
Define, trace, and flow down system-level RF specifications into actionable requirements for internal hardware development teams and external suppliers.Hardware Evaluation & Design:
Work with software-defined radios (SDRs), solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), and transponders. Review schematics and high-speed mixed-signal PCB layouts. Integration & Test (I&T): Support environmental and qualification testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC compliance). Execute in-lab validation using RF instrumentation like spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and signal generators.
