Our core product portfolio, the Field Broadband Transport (FBT) device, FlexBridge RoIP (FBR) gateway, are fielded and in active development across the US Department of War, USSOCOM, allied SOF, and NATO partner forces. The Senior Network / RF Engineer is a technically senior, Atlanta-based role responsible for designing, deploying, integrating, and sustaining complex RF and IP communications systems across Aegis Terra's customer base. This engineer serves as a primary technical authority on RF system architecture, LMR networks, and mission-critical communications infrastructure — bridging Aegis Terra's hardware portfolio to the existing networks and architectures our customers rely on. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with Department of War or Department of State communications systems, networks, and enterprise architectures — and can translate that operational knowledge into product integration guidance, customer engagement support, and internal engineering rigor. Key Responsibilities RF & Network Engineering Design, deploy, and support advanced RF communications systems and infrastructure aligned to Aegis Terra FBT, FBR, and next-gen data transport and compute platform integration requirements Lead RF link planning, frequency coordination, antenna system design, and interoperability analysis for customer deployments Configure and maintain RF equipment including repeaters, base stations, and antenna systems in both lab and field environments Perform and lead preventative and corrective maintenance across distributed customer network sites Conduct RF trunking site analysis and multi-site communications system optimization Execute and validate system backups and continuity procedures for mission-critical communications infrastructure Integration & Customer Engagement Serve as technical lead for Aegis Terra product integration into existing Department of War and Department of State communications architectures Support customer engagements, technical demonstrations, and proof-of-concept events — translating customer network requirements into Aegis Terra integration approaches Conduct interoperability analysis between Aegis Terra hardware and customer legacy systems, identifying risks and mitigation paths Produce and maintain technical documentation including as-built diagrams, integration schematics, and system flowcharts Provide on-site and remote technical support during customer test events and operational demonstrations as required Technical Leadership & Internal Support Serve as internal SME on RF systems, LMR architectures, and government communications infrastructure Mentor junior engineers and technicians; develop internal technical playbooks and best practices Manage spare asset inventory, conduct audits, and oversee lifecycle management of RF and network equipment Drive continuous system improvement based on field data and customer feedback Support special projects and lead technical integration efforts as directed by engineering leadership Requirements Clearance & Language US Citizenship required (Please, no duel citizenships) Secret or TS/SCI eligibility strongly preferred Fluency in English (written and spoken) Education Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline — or equivalent practical experience Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of hands-on experience in RF system design, installation, integration, and maintenance Demonstrated experience with Department of War or Department of State communications systems, networks, and enterprise architectures Advanced knowledge of IP networking: routing, switching, subnetting, VLANs, VPN integration, and multi-site network troubleshooting Proficiency with LMR systems and RF infrastructure including repeaters, base stations, and antenna distribution Hands-on experience with hardware and software diagnostic tools: Spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, line sweep analyzers PuTTY, WinSCP, and similar administration utilities Strong understanding of transmitters, receivers, antenna distribution systems, and grounding standards (R-56) Experience with telephony, data circuits, and packet switching techniques Ability to analyze and optimize RF trunking sites and multi-site communications systems Proven ability to lead projects, produce technical documentation, and operate effectively in small team environments Preferred Qualifications Deep experience with Department of War tactical communications architectures — TMNs, LMR, MANET integration, or C2 infrastructure Experience with Department of State communications systems and OCONUS network deployments Familiarity with P25 (Phase I/II), ASTRO, SmartNet/SmartZone, or equivalent LMR systems Experience with microwave backhaul system deployment and troubleshooting Hands-on experience with enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Cambium, Peplink) Windows Server administration and Active Directory management Server administration (HP ProLiant or similar) and virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V) Experience with TAK ecosystem deployment and integration (TAK Server, ATAK/WinTAK) Familiarity with Aegis Terra FBT, and/or FBR platforms — or comparable low-SWaP edge-compute hardware Experience supporting DDIL environments with degraded or intermittent connectivity Prior military or defense contractor communications engineering background strongly preferred Physical Demands & Work Environment This is a primarily Atlanta-based hybrid role.
