Job Description We seek seek an Engineering Design I professional to provide technical leadership and framework design for the Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) Gas Leak Data Services initiative. This role is responsible for establishing the technical engineering boundaries, defining asset threat categories, and training the analytical execution team during the initial phase of the project. Skills and Requirements Framework Development:
Define and document the foundational historical leak classification categories and the
ASME B31.8S
decision framework in partnership with PG&E engineering.
Team Training:
Train the onboarding GIS analyst team on how to correctly interpret historical leak cause columns, scan legacy data, and accurately identify asset leak causes.
Technical Governance:
Serve as the primary engineering reference point for the project delivery team during the first month of the engagement.
Quality Assurance Escalation:
Resolve complex categorization edge cases, clarify engineering judgment guidelines, and review initial sample data outputs for compliance with PG&E standards.
SOP & Hand-off Alignment:
Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job aids align with strict engineering definitions so the analyst team can operate independently post-Month 1.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or related discipline).
Experience:
4+ years of engineering design experience, ideally within gas utilities, pipeline integrity management, or utility risk modeling systems.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of pipeline safety and integrity standards (specifically
ASME B31.8S
threat categories). Experience interpreting legacy utility assets, historical leak records, and scanned A-form construction/repair documentation.
Core Competencies:
Strong technical training/mentorship capabilities, collaborative framework design, and the ability to translate complex engineering compliance criteria into actionable job aids.
