Associate Engineer - Gas Turbine Controls

If you are an Entry‑Level Controls Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this role offers the chance to work on meaningful automation and control solutions that support the modernization and sustainability of the North American power grid. You will join a collaborative team delivering gas turbine retrofit projects using Emerson's Ovation product line, gaining hands‑on experience with real‑world applications, control strategies, and system design.

• IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL

• + Learn combustion turbine operations, mechanical fundamentals, and system behavior to support controls development.

+ Build foundational knowledge of combustion turbine control strategies used in modern power generation systems. + Develop application code solutions and contribute to real-world project deliverables. + Assist in designing, developing, and testing HMI control screens that support operator visibility and decision‑making. + Support software testing, troubleshooting, and application validation using historical and live system data. + Contribute to the development of software standards, templates, and best practices to improve consistency and quality. + Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—internally and externally—to support successful project execution. + Receive mentorship and hands‑on guidance from experienced controls engineers as you build technical depth and engineering judgment.

• FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED

• + A bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM degree + Interest in controls engineering, troubleshooting, and power generation systems. + Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. + Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines. + Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support projects. +

• PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART

• + Coursework, internships, or hands-on project experience related to control systems, automation, or power systems.

+ Exposure to software testing, HMI design, or system validation. + Familiarity with industrial control systems or programming languages such as ladder logic, function block, or structured text. + An interest in power generation technology, sustainability, or modernization of legacy infrastructure. + Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and apply engineering principles to solve problems.

• Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process.

The salary/pay range for this role is $70,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
