Job Description
Piping Engineer Position Overview We are seeking a Piping Engineer to support piping engineering activities for a large-scale industrial refining project. This position will focus on the engineering, design, review, and coordination of process piping systems associated with process equipment and other major plant systems. The Piping Engineer will work closely with Process, Mechanical, Structural, Instrumentation, Electrical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure piping systems are properly designed, coordinated, constructible, and compliant with project requirements and applicable industry standards. Key Responsibilities Develop, review, and coordinate piping engineering deliverables for large-scale industrial projects. Review P&IDs, piping layouts, piping arrangements, and related engineering documentation . Support development and review of piping specifications, material requirements, and technical documentation. Coordinate piping requirements and equipment interfaces with Process, Mechanical, Structural, Instrumentation, and Electrical disciplines. Review vendor drawings, equipment documentation, and technical information for piping impacts. Support piping connections and interfaces associated with process equipment and plant systems. Participate in engineering design reviews, interdisciplinary reviews, and constructability discussions. Identify and resolve piping-related technical issues during engineering and project execution. Ensure piping designs comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and engineering requirements. Provide technical support to project engineering and construction teams as required. Coordinate design changes and ensure piping requirements are accurately incorporated into project deliverables. Support project execution in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary industrial environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline . Professional experience in piping engineering for industrial/process facilities . Experience with process piping systems, P&IDs, piping layouts, and piping engineering deliverables . Refining, petrochemical, chemical processing, oil & gas, or large-scale industrial EPC experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with applicable piping codes, standards, specifications, and engineering practices. Experience coordinating piping requirements with multiple engineering disciplines. Ability to review vendor documentation and equipment information. Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to participate effectively in design reviews and constructability discussions. Ability and willingness to work onsite in Houston, TX . Preferred Background Ideal candidates will have experience supporting major refinery, petrochemical, chemical processing, or oil & gas capital projects , particularly within an
EPC/EPCM
environment. Experience working with process equipment such as pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, compressors, and associated piping systems is highly desirable.
