Utility Engineering Opportunity Entry-Level to Senior | Technician to Professional Engineer Municipally owned Marshfield Utilities is seeking a motivated and collaborative engineering professional to join our team. We are looking for the right person, whether you are beginning your career, bringing years of utility experience, or somewhere in between. This position is intentionally flexible and may be filled at a variety of levels, from an Engineering Technician to a Utility Engineer , based on the selected candidate's education, experience, qualifications, and demonstrated abilities. Responsibilities, project assignments, and compensation will be aligned accordingly. Position Overview As part of our Engineering team, you will play an important role in supporting the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Marshfield Utilities' electric distribution system. You will contribute to a variety of engineering and technical projects that help provide safe, reliable, and efficient electric service to our customers. Depending on qualifications and experience, responsibilities may include: Assisting with or leading the planning, design, and implementation of electric distribution system improvements and expansions. Designing overhead and underground electric distribution facilities. Working directly with customers on electric service requests and distribution system modifications. Preparing engineering drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project documentation. Utilizing GIS, mapping software, databases, spreadsheets, and other engineering applications. Coordinating projects with internal departments, contractors, developers, consultants, and regulatory agencies. Supporting system planning, reliability initiatives, asset management, and operational improvements. Providing technical analysis and recommendations for engineering and operational decisions. Serving as a technical resource and, for experienced candidates, leading projects and mentoring others. Qualifications We welcome candidates with a wide range of educational backgrounds and experience levels.
Qualified candidates may possess:
An Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical field; or A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant utility or engineering experience. Experience with electric utility systems, engineering design, GIS, AutoCAD or similar drafting software, mapping applications, spreadsheets, databases, and project coordination is beneficial but not required for entry-level candidates. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. $55,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
