Job Overview Join Our Competitive Robotics Team! Magikid Robotics & Coding Lab San Marino is seeking an experienced, passionate VEX Robotics Coach to mentor and inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators. We are building a strong competitive robotics program and are looking for someone who enjoys teaching, coaching, and guiding students through the complete engineering design process—from brainstorming and CAD design to robot building, programming, testing, strategy, and tournament competition. VEX IQ, VEX
V5, or VEX competition coaching , and enjoy working with motivated students, we'd love to hear from you. This is an in-person position in San Marino, California 91108. VEX Competition Coaching (Primary Responsibility) Coach and mentor students preparing for VEX IQ and/or VEX V5 Robotics Competitions. Teach engineering design principles, robot construction, mechanical systems, sensors, and programming. Guide students through brainstorming, prototyping, testing, debugging, and iterative design. Help students develop strategic thinking, teamwork, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Prepare students for local, regional, state, and world-level VEX competitions. Create structured training plans and monitor team progress throughout the season. Assist students with engineering notebooks and interview preparation. Support competition-day coaching and event participation when needed. STEM Instruction Teach robotics, engineering, coding, and STEM classes for students ages 9 and above. Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons using our curriculum and educational resources. Foster a positive, encouraging, and organized classroom environment. Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress when appropriate. Assist with camps, workshops, demonstrations, and STEM outreach events. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience coaching a
VEX IQ, VEX
V5, or other competitive robotics platforms . Former VEX competitor, mentor, referee, or volunteer. Experience qualifying teams for regional, state, or World Championship events. Background in robotics, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related STEM fields. Experience with Python, C++, Scratch, or other programming languages. Experience teaching robotics, coding, or STEM enrichment programs. Bachelor's degree (or current college student) in Engineering, Computer Science, Education, or a related field. Strong knowledge of robot building, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting. Experience with VEXcode or similar programming environments. Passion for mentoring and teaching children. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Reliable, organized, patient, and enthusiastic. Available to work weekday afternoons and some weekends. Experience with robotics platforms (VEX, LEGO, Arduino, etc.) Knowledge of programming (e.g., Scratch, Python, C++). Experience working in after-school or camp programs. Hours:
15-30 hours per week Compensation decisions are made based on experience, performance, and role scope, while maintaining internal pay equity.
