The Systems Engineer is one of the engineering representatives within McNaughton McKay Group that works with Sales and vendors in the development of marketing and support activities for the assigned product technologies. The Systems Engineer - Robotics role focuses on driving the growth of robotics and automation solutions, with a focus on Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), collaborative robots (cobots), and warehouse automation technologies. As a Systems Engineer, you will: Pre-Sale Responsibilities include: Serve as the primary engineering contact responsible for the development and execution of robotics and automation opportunities. Identify, develop, and support new and existing opportunities for AMR, cobot, and warehouse automation solutions within assigned territory. Align with sales to develop and manage a pipeline of robotics opportunities, including lead generation, qualification, and strategic pursuit. Engage directly with customers to understand application requirements, material flow challenges, and operational goals. Develop and present technical solutions, including system concepts, layouts, and proposals for turnkey automation systems. Size and configure AMR fleets and select appropriate attachments and accessories in coordination with vendor and partner resources. Evaluate customer environments to identify automation opportunities and recommend appropriate robotics solutions. Develop application strategies and solution architectures that align with customer needs and business objectives. Coordinate internal and external resources, including vendors and integration partners, to develop complete turnkey solutions. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and partners to support robotics solutions and accessory offerings. Support marketing and business development activities to expand McNaughton-McKay's presence in robotics and automation markets. Own go-to-market strategies for robotics solutions across multiple industries including manufacturing, warehousing, automotive, and general industry.Post-Sale Responsibilities include:
Provide limited post-sale support, with primary responsibility focused on pre-sale activities. Support the transition of projects to internal services teams for execution and implementation. Assist customers and internal teams with basic system configuration and deployment of AMR and cobot solutions as required. Support troubleshooting and resolution of initial application or deployment issues when necessary. Ensure continuity of communication between sales, services, and customer stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Service Responsibilities include:
Qualify the level of assistance required for customer applications involving robotics and automation solutions. Assist in developing service and support procedures related to AMR and cobot technologies. Support the development of vendor service and support strategies for robotics solutions. Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal teams to support ongoing service capabilities.Internal Responsibilities include:
Train sales and technical teams on robotics, automation, AMR, and cobot solutions. Develop internal tools, resources, and documentation to support the engineering and sales process. Support the development of standardized solution approaches and best practices for robotics applications. Collaborate with sales and engineering leadership to identify growth opportunities and improve solution offerings.Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Include:
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Automation, or related field. 3-5 years of experience in automation, robotics, material handling, or related technical field. Strong understanding of robotics applications including AMRs, cobots, and warehouse automation systems. Ability to evaluate and design solutions for material flow and production environments. Familiarity with AMR fleet sizing, configuration, and deployment concepts. Understanding of robotic safety considerations within industrial environments. Experience working with vendors and partners to develop integrated solutions. Familiarity with CAD or layout tools for system design and concept development. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical solutions to customers. Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities within a dynamic sales-driven environment. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.Reporting Structure:
