We make land care robots (we call them LCRs) that improve the economics of land management and food production, reduce pollution and increase safety. See videos of some LCR deployments: youtube.com/c/DirectedMachines/videos This is a critical position that offers a sharp, energetic engineer a huge opportunity to contribute, learn and grow in a complex and dynamic analytical environment. The right candidate will take this challenge head-on and lead a fleet of LCRs. While strong engineering knowledge is required, this is not a typical engineering or software development position. This is an extremely challenging multidisciplinary operations engineering position that has uncanny similarities to Mars Rover missions. This position sometimes requires outdoor work in climatically challenging situations. Responsibilities Remotely supervise the operation of a fleet of LCRs. Remotely triage and coordinate mechanical, electrical and software support for a fleet of LCRs Smoke jump into the field in the U.S. and other (friendly) countries for new LCR deployments and other critical situations Location / Travel Our HQ is in Seattle. You will work WFH some days and from our Seattle facility other days.
EARLY CREW
This position is on our early crew. You need to start working - from home - no later than 6:00am PT weekday mornings (and stop early too). Expected travel outside WA is 10%. Requirements Bachelor's or higher in EE, ME, CS or a related field with solid GPA. Military training involving support of unmanned/remote combat (UAV, RVT, Remote Sensing, Remote Lauch/Repair) is a major bonus. Military veterans meeting the other criteria encouraged to apply. 2+ years overall product development or technical support experience. 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and identifying the root cause of issues in complex SW/HW applications. Gaming skills Strong writing and communication skills Experience in UNIX/Linux operating system and tools Excellent physical condition to work outdoors in challenging climates Strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong attention to detail. Derive pleasure from being exact and efficient. Driver's license Some flexibility in hours, expect some weekend work and some weeks with more than 40 hours with eligibility for performance bonuses.
