Job Description

Job Title:
Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Temporary) Job Description The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician plays a key role in keeping highly automated, robotics-driven distribution operations running safely and efficiently. You install, inspect, repair, and maintain complex material handling equipment, including automated conveyor systems, while performing predictive and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime. You use your mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge to troubleshoot issues, document work in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and support continuous improvement across a large, fast-paced facility. Responsibilities Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment, including automated conveyor systems and related controls. Perform quality predictive and preventative maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to reduce unplanned downtime. Complete all preventative maintenance documentation, procedures, and PM sheets accurately and on time. Perform battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on industrial batteries and related equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with material handling equipment, automated conveyor systems, and robotics components to identify root causes and implement effective repairs. Apply knowledge of basic electrical components and electronic principles when troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to support installation, maintenance, and repair activities. Enter equipment downtime data and maintenance activities into daily logs and maintain accurate records in the CMMS. Manage, update, and close work orders within the CMMS, ensuring all work is properly documented and tracked. Track, store, and organize department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies, to ensure availability when needed. Follow and demonstrate established safety standards and MHE safety practices in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and facility safety requirements. Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, recommending improvements to maintenance procedures, and participating in process enhancement initiatives. Collaborate with other technicians and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and maintain high levels of system availability. Use Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, track maintenance activities, and communicate with stakeholders. Support operation and basic maintenance of robotic and PLC-based control systems as needed. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated systems. At least 2+ years of experience repairing material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls. At least 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. At least 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles. At least 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or distribution environment. At least 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and performing diagnostics on MHE systems or similar automated equipment. At least 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Experience with automated conveyor systems, including motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and interpreting schematics. High school diploma or equivalent education. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment. Hands-on experience running diagnostics, conducting inspections, troubleshooting, repairing, and creating work orders for conveyors and other MHE, including controls and robotics. Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance history. Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and willingness to identify and implement process enhancements. Willingness to learn and grow within a Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering (RME) environment. Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and facility safety standards. Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields (preferred). At least 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field (preferred). At least 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems (preferred). Work Environment You work in a large, modern distribution facility that relies on high-speed automation and robotics to move products efficiently. The environment includes extensive conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and robotic components, supported by PLC-based controls and a CMMS for managing maintenance activities. Your performance is measured using clear data and metrics, providing transparency into expectations and results without day-to-day micromanagement. The role is physically active and requires comfort walking significant distances throughout the shift—often around 10,000 steps per day—and safely handling loads up to 49 pounds at a time. Positions are available across multiple schedules, and all candidates must be open to working any 10-hour shift, which may include days, nights, or weekends, depending on operational needs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Haslet, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
