Job Description
The Opportunity Ulteig and its affiliated companies are hiring a Graduate Engineer to support the design of renewable projects. This role will be a strategic contributor to the growth of our Renewables Lifeline Sector®. •Please note that resumes must be submitted in English for the application to be considered•What You'll Do Design development for Utility Scale Solar PV design packages for early development through Issued for Construction, including solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, and equipment details for systems ranging from 50MW through 500+ MW. Conduct electrical studies such as short circuit, grounding, or reactive studies using programs such as Easypower, ETAP, PSS/E Calculate wire sizes and associated loss using Excel, Cymcap, and short circuit modeling software and assemble detailed material lists. Conduct site visits to gather notes and take pictures of existing conditions to aid in design. Review site visit details to determine interconnection requirements and PV system potential issues. Work with project teams to provide technical assistance and design services for proposals, including putting together Solar PV module layouts using AutoCAD showing module location, shading buffer, fencing, etc. Lead permitting process and Interconnection process. Serves as key member of design team working with licensed Professional Engineers on solar-specific projects Turning initial system conceptual ideas into fully developed firm EPC bid designs. Additional duties may include tasks beyond what is listed, such as special projects, assisting colleagues, or new initiatives. A willingness to adapt to changing priorities and support team efforts enhances collaboration and growth opportunities. What We Expect from You Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. ABET-accredited program or equivalent required. Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hire. Engineering internship experience preferred. Electrical power systems coursework preferred. Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks. Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practice. Practices efficient engineering as it pertains to design selection. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality. Works closely with engineering technicians and experienced electrical engineers. Performs detailed engineering design and evaluations within specialty. Prepares reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects. May participate in marketing, sales, and business development activities within assigned market. Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we meet their needs. Works closely with other disciplines in a multidisciplinary environment. Ability to work in a hybrid mode schedule; 3 days in the office, 2 days from home. Must possess strong verbal and written English communication skills (CEFR level B2-C1). You should be comfortable articulating complex ideas and collaborating effectively within a global professional environment. Must have authorization to work legally in Costa Rica for any employer.
