We are looking for an experienced and dependable Inspection Technician to join our team and help ensure completed solar projects meet utility, permitting, electrical, and installation requirements. Position Summary The Experienced Inspection Technician will be responsible for conducting field inspections and preparing solar projects for successful utility and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspections. This position requires strong knowledge of residential solar PV systems, electrical components, installation standards, and common inspection requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically knowledgeable, comfortable working independently in the field, and able to identify and resolve issues before they result in failed inspections or project delays. Key Responsibilities Conduct pre-inspections and quality-control inspections of completed solar installations. Verify that solar PV systems are installed according to approved plans, electrical requirements, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes. Inspect PV modules, racking, wiring, conduit, disconnects, inverters, batteries, grounding, labeling, and other system components. Identify installation deficiencies, code violations, missing components, or discrepancies between the approved plans and the actual installation. Prepare projects for municipal, utility, and AHJ inspections. Attend scheduled inspections and coordinate with inspectors, installers, homeowners, and project management teams. Communicate inspection results and required corrections clearly to the appropriate teams. Document inspection findings with detailed notes, photographs, and supporting documentation. Verify meter, equipment, and system information when required for utility approval. Assist with troubleshooting failed inspections and coordinate corrective actions. Perform follow-up inspections to confirm that corrections have been completed. Maintain accurate records of inspections, corrections, and project status. Escalate major technical, safety, or code-related issues to management or the appropriate department. Ensure all field activities are performed safely and professionally. Travel to multiple project locations as required. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in solar installation, electrical work, solar inspections, quality control, or a related field. Strong understanding of residential solar PV systems and electrical installations. Knowledge of NEC requirements and common solar installation practices. Experience working with AHJs, municipal inspectors, utilities, or electrical inspectors is strongly preferred. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and solar plan sets. Familiarity with solar inverters, batteries, disconnects, electrical panels, grounding, and PV equipment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to identify potential inspection issues before an official inspection. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple field assignments. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work outdoors and travel between project sites. Preferred Qualifications NABCEP certification or other relevant solar/electrical certification. Electrical or solar installation experience. Experience with utility interconnection and PTO requirements. Experience with Tesla, Enphase, SolarEdge, or other major solar equipment. Experience with battery energy storage systems. Familiarity with platforms such as CompanyCam, solar monitoring portals, CRM systems, or project management software.
