full-time General Summary A licensed expert who designs, reviews, and officially stamps in-house blueprint plans for Solar PV, Energy storage, EV Charging and Load Management systems. The role involves overseeing the implementation and design of blueprints for all company solar projects, as well as the continuous development and improvement of the Engineering team. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage Good Faith Energy's engineering department, including workload planning, staffing, training, quality control, accountability, and performance management. Establish engineering standards, workflows, SLAs, and measurable KPIs that reduce project delivery timelines while improving accuracy, consistency, and overall department efficiency. Identify and eliminate engineering bottlenecks across site assessment, design, estimating, permitting, utility interconnection, construction support, and project closeout. Oversee the electrical engineering, design, and code compliance of residential and commercial solar PV, battery energy storage, EV charging, and load-management projects. Prepare, review, and approve commercial solar and EV charging estimates, including conceptual system design, electrical scope, equipment selection, labor assumptions, utility requirements, and constructability considerations. Develop standardized estimating tools, engineering templates, bills of material, and design libraries to improve pricing accuracy and shorten proposal turnaround times. Provide engineering oversight for commercial EV charging projects, including Level 2 and DC fast-charging infrastructure, service capacity analysis, utility coordination, transformer requirements, switchgear, distribution equipment, and load-management strategies. Review and seal electrical drawings, calculations, specifications, and engineering documents where permitted and required by applicable laws and licensing requirements. Ensure all designs comply with the NEC, adopted building and fire codes, utility requirements, AHJ standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable UL and IEEE standards. Coordinate closely with sales, estimating, operations, procurement, project management, and field teams to ensure proposed systems are technically sound, competitively priced, permit-ready, and constructible. Lead complex technical evaluations, including electrical service assessments, load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, voltage-drop analysis, conductor and equipment sizing, and interconnection requirements. Ensure accuracy and optimization of the bill of materials to minimize material waste. Serve as the lead technical point of contact for complex inquiries and issue resolution, coordinating directly with AHJs, utilities, inspectors, customers, vendors, and internal construction teams. Track engineering performance through metrics such as design turnaround time, first-pass approval rate, revision frequency, estimate variance, permitting cycle time, engineering cost per project, BOM accuracy and backlog aging. Perform root-cause analysis on design errors, failed inspections, change orders, margin erosion, and field rework, then implement corrective actions and process improvements. Evaluate new technologies, equipment, design software, and automation opportunities that improve system performance, standardization, scalability, and profitability. Maintain Professional Engineer licensure and responsible-charge practices while building a culture of technical excellence, urgency, ownership, and continuous improvement. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required Must be a Texas licensed Professional Engineer with 7+ years electrical engineering experience Proficiency with Google Workspace and similar office software. Proficiency in CAD; certification is preferred. Proven leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing team members. Excellent communication skills via phone, email, and internal communication applications. Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and a strong capacity for independent problem-solving and self-management. Analytical thinking and giving great attention to detail. Diligent work ethic with high integrity, strong ethical standards, and a focus on internal controls. Highly organized and structured approach with a commitment to driving standardized workflows. Solution-oriented approach to duties and the desire to drive for continuous improvement and a process mindset. Is comfortable working with internal departments and external customers and manufacturers. Previous managerial experience preferred. Comfortable with project management, accounting, and Microsoft Office software.
