Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Site Civil Mechanical Engineer to work at SYMX Energy to lead and oversee the planning, design, and execution of civil and mechanical engineering projects on-site. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects by applying innovative engineering solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, site management, and technical expertise in CAD software, system design, and manufacturing processes. Your proactive approach will drive project success from conception through completion, fostering a safe and efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities Construction Oversight & Execution (Solar Scope)
- Supervise and coordinate installation of solar PV systems, including: o Pile driving and pre-drill installation o Tracker systems (torque tubes, bearings, dampers) o Module (panel) mounting and alignment o Mechanical installation of inverters, skids, and related equipment
- Oversee civil works such as grading, access roads, drainage, and equipment foundations.
- Ensure installation tolerances (pile alignment, torque values, tracker geometry) meet design specifications.
- Monitor subcontractor productivity, quality, and adherence to schedule.
- Identify and resolve field issues such as refusal during pile driving, misalignment, or mechanical fit-up challenges. Engineering Coordination
- Act as the on-site liaison between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Review solar-specific drawings and documents, including: o Array layouts and pile maps o Tracker assembly drawings o Mechanical installation manuals
- Support RFIs related to geotechnical conditions, pile refusal, tracker adjustments, and equipment installation.
- Provide field feedback to optimize constructability and installation efficiency. Quality Assurance & Control
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements for solar construction, including: o Pile installation depth, plumbness, and torque verification o Tracker assembly alignment and torque specifications o Module installation standards and handling procedures
- Perform inspections in accordance with Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Identify non-conformances (NCRs) and coordinate corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed inspection and quality documentation. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Enforce HSE policies specific to solar construction activities (pile driving, heavy equipment, lifting operations).
- Participate in site safety meetings, hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental requirements such as erosion control and land disturbance permits. Planning & Scheduling Support
- Assist in planning and sequencing solar installation activities (civil → piles → trackers → modules → mechanical equipment).
- Track installation progress (e.g., piles/day, tables/day, modules/day).
- Identify schedule risks and support mitigation planning. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily reports including production tracking (pile counts, tracker rows installed, modules installed).
- Track quality inspections and installation records.
- Support as-built documentation and project closeout (including job books).
- Ensure proper document control of drawings, revisions, and technical submittals. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Core Competencies Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 4-8+ years of construction experience, preferably in solar or renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of solar construction processes and field operations.
- Experience with QA/QC procedures and inspection standards.
