Job Description

WaterWise Consulting, Inc. is the premier water conservation consulting firm in California. We are looking for a full-time Water Conservation Specialist / Irrigation Technician to assist us with our water conservation programs in the Bakersfield and surrounding areas. Some of these surrounding areas include, but are not limited to Visalia and Kern River Valley. We are looking for an ambitious full-time candidate who can travel to different job sites as assigned. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing water-use efficiency surveys and landscape / irrigation inspections and retrofits at residential and commercial sites. Retrofits may include but not be limited to swapping out sprinkler nozzles and installing smart sprinkler timers. Installation of smart sprinkler timers includes being able to connect them to wireless internet networks for full functionality. Water-use efficiency surveys and inspections will be conducted electronically on a company provided tablet and reports will be e-mailed to the office each day.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of and experience with landscaping and irrigation systems is a must. Knowledge of different types of plant materials. Know how to perform basic landscape area measurements. Ability to perform routine irrigation system maintenance, repair, and upgrade (including but not limited to sprinkler timers and nozzles). Ability to gather accurate data and calculate the area of basic shapes such as squares, circles and triangles. Organized and outgoing personality. Great communication skills and customer service oriented. Basic computer, tablet and smartphone knowledge. Must be knowledgeable about how to utilize and iPad and email for reporting and communication. Reliable transportation. Cellular phone. Must have internet access to check daily survey schedule. Must participate in company's background and/or drug screening program. This position will also require a separate background check and drug test which will be performed by the Company's contracted public agency client after successful completion of the Company's standard background check. Candidates must be able to pass both sets of screenings to be eligible for the position. Candidates must also have a clean driving record to be considered for the option of utilizing a company vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and basic knowledge of irrigation and landscape practices. Basic customer service skills are also desirable. Good communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Work duties will also include providing advice to customers on their sprinkler systems and landscaping, so candidates should understand the basic principles and practices of landscape gardening and irrigation systems. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required.
