Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Survey and Layout Technician to join our civil/utility construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precise land surveying, construction layout, and data collection activities to support infrastructure projects. Your expertise in utilizing advanced surveying equipment and CAD software will ensure complete project execution from initial site analysis to final construction staking. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while honing your technical skills in a collaborative environment. Duties Operate surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems, and levels to gather accurate field data. Conduct construction layout surveys, including staking out building footprints, utilities, roads, and other infrastructure components. Perform topographic surveys and land boundary determinations using GPS surveying, legal descriptions, and GIS tools. Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D for drafting schematics, creating survey maps, and analyzing collected data. Locate underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. Collect and analyze survey data to produce detailed reports, maps, and drawings that meet project specifications. Operate field tools including hand tools, total stations, Trimble GNSS systems, and data collectors efficiently during fieldwork. Maintain all surveying and GPS equipment through routine calibration and troubleshooting. Experience Minimum one year of experience performing construction staking or boundary surveying. Minimum one year of experience operating survey instruments such as Trimble GPS equipment, total robotic stations, and levels. Minimum one year of experience with Trimble GPS heavy machinery equipment. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (2D linework and 3D modeling) is preferred. Knowledge of legal descriptions related to property boundaries and land titles is desirable. Ability to interpret schematics, construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings accurately. Experience with PDF and DWG construction files. Proficient understanding of the

virtual reference station network. Proficient understanding of the published coordinate systems in KY and TN. Construction experience or familiarity with construction processes enhances understanding of project needs on-site. Pay:
$50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
