Job Description

Survey Technician Position Summary The Survey Technician supports field operations by assisting with land surveying activities, operating survey equipment, and ensuring accurate data collection. This role works closely with the Crew Chief and Field Supervisor to execute daily assignments efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and precision. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, reliable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. Key Responsibilities Assist the Field Supervisor and Crew Chief with all aspects of daily surveying activities Operate and maintain survey instruments, including GPS and total stations Upload and download data from data collectors on a daily basis Ensure proper care, storage, and charging of all survey equipment Follow all company and regulatory safety procedures while working in the field Serve as acting Crew Chief and supervise the survey crew in their absence Perform fieldwork independently as a one-person crew when required Participate in ongoing learning to stay current with evolving surveying technologies and equipment Support accurate data collection for boundary, topographic, construction, and other types of surveys Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Hands-on experience operating survey instrumentation Experience with Trimble survey equipment (GPS and total stations required) Valid driver's license with good driving record Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions Preferred Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field Solid understanding of surveying principles and field procedures Good communication and teamwork skills Basic knowledge of data collectors and survey software Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology Work Environment Primarily field-based work in outdoor environments May involve physical activity such as walking long distances, carrying equipment, and working in uneven terrain Occasional overtime or travel depending on project demands Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenixville, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
