This role focuses on creating routine layouts, detailed drawings, sketches, and diagrams for survey, municipal, and land development projects. Initially, you will support a large, high-profile survey project and then transition to contributing to a variety of projects across multiple markets. Responsibilities Produce accurate drawings using computer-assisted design and drafting equipment and software, primarily Civil 3D and AutoCAD 2D. Interpret and analyze sketches, drawings, notes, and verbal instructions from engineers, surveyors, technicians, and designers to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments. Collaborate closely with engineers, surveyors, technicians, project coordinators, project managers, and support staff to develop drawings and layout data. Revise and modify existing drawings as required to reflect design changes, field information, and client feedback. Plot, organize, and assemble project-related documents to support project delivery and record-keeping. Apply knowledge of surveying, various machines, engineering practices, mathematical formulas, and physical sciences to produce clear and accurate drawings. Follow established company standards, CAD methodologies, and drafting procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables. Maintain strong internal and external client relationships by being responsive, professional, and detail-oriented. Work toward achieving performance objectives and financial metrics as defined by the organization's key performance indicators. Support a major survey project as an initial focus, then contribute to additional survey, municipal, and land development projects as needs evolve. Perform all other related drafting and support duties as assigned to ensure successful project outcomes. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience using Civil 3D for CAD design and drafting. Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D drafting and design tasks. Working knowledge of survey projects or basic survey principles and practices. Ability to interpret and translate engineering and survey sketches, notes, and verbal instructions into accurate CAD drawings. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and document preparation. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, surveyors, technicians, and project staff. Solid understanding of fundamental engineering and surveying concepts, including basic mathematical and geometric principles. Ability to follow established CAD standards, methodologies, and workflows. Additional Skills & Qualifications 2 or more years of specific experience as a Survey CAD Technician. Experience working on survey projects within a dedicated survey department. Experience with land development and municipal civil design projects. Familiarity with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or similar civil design platforms. Experience supporting projects in markets such as power and energy, municipal, land development, or oil and gas. Interest in working in a dynamic, solution-focused environment that encourages innovative thinking and continuous improvement. Motivation to contribute to a purpose-driven team focused on client-centric solutions and community development. Work Environment This position is primarily office-based, with standard Monday through Friday workdays and flexible hours totaling approximately 40-50 hours per week. The first 90 days are fully in-office, five days per week, to support onboarding and training. After this initial period, you may work in a hybrid arrangement, typically three days in the office and two days remote each week. You will use modern CAD tools, including Civil 3D and AutoCAD, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team that combines the capabilities of a larger firm with the agility and responsiveness of a smaller organization. The culture emphasizes being dynamic, daring, and diverse, with a strong focus on solving complex problems, supporting community development, and empowering people to do their best work every day.
