Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up and operating survey equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and levels, under supervision. Record field measurements, including distances, angles, and elevations, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Support the collection of geospatial data for boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking. Help maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure proper functionality and accuracy. Document field observations through notes, sketches, and photographs to support survey deliverables. Adhere to safety protocols during fieldwork, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards. Collaborate with Survey Party Chiefs and CADD Drafters to provide field data for preliminary maps and drawings. Assist in organizing survey data for use by project teams, including engineers and project managers. Participate in training programs to develop skills in surveying techniques, equipment operation, and data collection. Seek feedback from supervisors to improve performance and prepare for advancement to roles such as Survey Party Chief, or explore related roles like Field Technician through cross-training.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field preferred). 0-2 years of experience in surveying or a related field (internship experience acceptable). Basic knowledge of surveying equipment (e.g., total stations, GPS) and techniques. Familiarity with Microsoft Office for data entry and documentation. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform fieldwork, which involves walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain. Capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other environmental factors. Adequate vision and hearing abilities to effectively use survey equipment, read and interpret measurements, and communicate with team members. Ability to operate standard office equipment and use computer software for documentation purposes. Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as necessary.
