Job Description

CAD Technician
I / II / III
— Land Surveying & Civil Engineering El Paso, TX Job Details Full-time $25,000.00 - $62,574.89 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications CAD software Spanish Civil engineering English Attention to detail Project leadership Full Job Description About Us The Engineering Office (TEO) is a land surveying and civil engineering firm based in downtown El Paso serving the Paso Del Norte region. We handle boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, topographic surveys, subdivision plats, site plans, construction staking, and special permit work for residential and commercial clients. We're a small, tight-knit team that moves fast and takes pride in clean, professional deliverables. The Role We're hiring CAD Technicians at multiple experience levels to join our drafting team. You'll produce survey plats, site plans, and construction documents in AutoCAD, working from field data, legal descriptions, and redline markups. Depending on your level, you'll either be learning the ropes with close mentorship or leading complex projects independently. We offer a unique production and quality-based incentive program on top of your base pay — the faster and cleaner your work, the more you earn. This isn't a vague annual bonus. It's per-project, transparent, and directly tied to your output. Levels We're Hiring For CAD Technician I — Entry Level ($12 - $18/hr + incentives) You're early in your career or new to land surveying CAD. You know AutoCAD and can follow drafting standards. We'll teach you the survey-specific side — how to read field notes, interpret legal descriptions, and produce plats that meet municipal requirements. You'll start with boundary surveys and topo base maps under close supervision. What we're looking for: AutoCAD proficiency, attention to detail, willingness to learn survey and civil terminology, ability to follow templates and style guides consistently. CAD Technician II — Intermediate ($18 - $24/hr + incentives) You've got 1-3 years producing survey or civil drawings. You can take a standard project from field data to final deliverable without someone looking over your shoulder on every detail. You're comfortable with legal descriptions, coordinate geometry, and plat requirements. You'll handle boundary surveys, topos, ALTAs, simple replats, and site plans independently, and support the team on complex projects. What we're looking for: Everything above, plus experience interpreting legal descriptions and title commitments, understanding of
ALTA/NSPS
survey requirements, and the ability to apply annotation and style standards from memory. CAD Technician III — Advanced ($24 - $30/hr + incentives) You've got 3-5 years and can lead projects. You're making design and layout decisions on plats and site plans, not just drafting what someone else designed. You review junior drafters' work, coordinate with our field crew on data needs, and know what municipal reviewers are looking for before they ask. Complex replats, amending plats, subdivision design, and ROW exhibits are in your wheelhouse. What we're looking for: Everything above, plus metes and bounds writing/verification, subdivision design experience, municipal submission formatting knowledge, and the ability to mentor junior staff. What We Offer Competitive base pay by experience level Per-project incentive bonuses based on speed and quality — top performers earn 25-55% above base pay monthly Hands-on mentorship from experienced engineers and surveyors Clear promotion path with defined benchmarks at each level Small team environment where your work matters and is visible Downtown El Paso office Requirements (All Levels) Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience is a plus) Ability to work on-site in El Paso, TX Reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Legal authorization to work in the United States Preferred Experience in land surveying or civil engineering drafting Familiarity with Texas survey plat standards Bilingual English/Spanish (helpful but not required) To Apply Send your resume and 2-3 sample drawings (redact client info if needed) to . Tell us which level you think fits and why.
