A Surveying or Mapping Technician works with surveyors and cartographers to gather data and create maps. Visits sites and records survey measurements and descriptive data. Selects data needed to create maps, including photos, aerial photos and satellite information, and helps produce and update maps that show boundaries or topographical information.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to communicate with all levels of mine management and co-workers Competently operating a total station Utilizing various computer applications Using CAD software applications Working in underground and / or surface environments Performing tasks effectively and efficiently Working safely in all areas Experience Prior mining experience/employment is preferred, not required. Ability to work well in a team environment Adequate math and computer skills Basic understanding of surveying Job Requirements Must be 18 years of age High School Diploma or GED, preferred Associate Degree in Engineering, preferred Reliable transportation Regular and punctual attendance MSHA Certification (training available) Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background check Knowledge of general mining practices, and State and Federal mining laws Must be able to successfully complete industry approved training courses Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently Must successfully obtain certification to work in mine environments if chosen candidate Ability to work in the United States without sponsorshipJOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
