The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Northern Region Highways and Aviation is looking for a Land Survey Manager 1 to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Anchorage - $4,032.80 Bi-weekly/Non overtime eligible Fairbanks - $4,153.60 Bi-weekly/Non overtime eligible
What You Will Be Doing:
Supervise Right-of-Way (ROW) Engineering staff and manage multiple surveying, mapping, and land title projects across the Northern Region. Coordinate with Design, Construction, Maintenance, and other sections to ensure ROW and survey deliverables meet project needs and standards. Develop, maintain, and enforce regional surveying and mapping standards, policies, and procedures. Administer and oversee consultant contracts for ROW surveying and mapping services, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance. Manage staffing, training, and resource allocation to maintain efficient project delivery and professional development of the ROW Engineering team.

Expect:
This position is based in Fairbanks at the DOT&PF complex on Peger Road, or in Anchorage at 4111 Aviation Ave, w design, construction, maintenance, and support staff are all within walking distance. The role provides a dynamic blend of office work, field visits, and team collaboration, with opportunities to engage directly with stakeholders. Intermittent summer travel, and occasional winter travel, may be required for site visits or meetings, which could include travel by small plane or boat.

Surveying:
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods used in the measurement or determination of land boundaries, distances, elevations, areas, angles, and other features of the earth's surface.
Special Note:
Alaska Professional Land Surveyor registration is required by Alaska law. The preparation of project right of way maps, airport property plans, records of survey, individual parcel plats and legal descriptions requires compliance with AS 9.55.275, AS19.10.260 and 11 AAC 53.300. Valid Driver's License. Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in Alaska is required for appointment to this job class. Permanent employment status is defined as holding permanent status in ANY job class in the current period of employment with no break in service (separation from State of Alaska employment) since the permanent status was earned.
