HIRING SALARY RANGE

Survey & Mapping Supervisor I This position will direct the work of employees, coordinate training, supervise daily activities, plans workloads, and deadlines . Preforms contract administration duties and provide tech support. Coordinates and reviews office and field information.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
Supervises employees by communications regularly, motivating, training, evaluating, and planning and directing employees work. Manages employee expectations, to include preparing and performing annual performance reviews and evaluating annual training plans. Supervises, directs, and plans staff schedules, activities, and objectives. Coordinates the daily operations of mapping technicians in creating Control Surveys, Right of Way (ROW), Maintenance and Monumentations Maps. Coordinates the writing of sketches and legal descriptions. Supervises and coordinates staff training, instructs consultants on the gathering, processing, analyzing, and displaying of surveying and mapping data utilizing Department pre-approved applications and computer programs. Coordinates and reviews title documents, office and field data for the preparation of maps, sketches, and documents. Reviews consultant deliverables for completeness and accuracy. Provides technical support to consultant survey staff and monitors consultant adherence to survey scopes pertaining to quantity, quality, and schedule. Researches county, city and private survey records to obtain information useful in performing surveys. Responds to public inquiries and requests pertaining to mapping, parcels, documents, road reservation and related information available through the Surveying and Mapping Office. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
In the operation of surveying instruments Principles, practices, Florida laws, and regulations governing the surveying and mapping profession Department procedures, guidelines, and standards for the Offices of Surveying & Mapping, Design, and Right of Way .
Skills in:
Operation of personal computers and surveying and mapping software Establish and maintain effective working relationships Negotiating project scopes and staff hour estimates Coach, mentor, and motivate employees.
Ability to:
Supervise people Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Plan, organize, coordinate, and execute multiple projects Monitor and assess the performance of employees and consultants Read and interpret legal descriptions, maps, plats, and plans
Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:
Florida Surveyor and Mapper license in accordance with Chapter 472, Florida Statutes.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short timeframe and serve on the Transportation Emergency Management Team.
