Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Job Description
Job Summary:
The Survey Party Chief is responsible for leading and supervising survey field crews in the collection of accurate survey data for boundary, topographic, construction, utility, route, and control surveys. This position serves as the field leader on assigned projects, providing technical guidance, ensuring work quality, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating daily field operations to deliver projects efficiently and accurately.Job Responsibilities:
Reports for work at 6:50 AM each workday. Report daily to the Project Manager regarding project status, field conditions and production progress. Supervises field party to assure completeness of work as assigned by the Project Manager or Field Supervisor, Possess working knowledge of Instrument Technician duties. Trains Instrument Technicians in the minimum acceptable performance requirements. Coordinate daily field assignments, equipment needs, and crew activities. Determines all necessary calculations for productive field operations. Ensure all required equipment, materials, and supplies are organized, loaded, and maintained for field operations. Performs fieldwork using MTS requirements. Perform all necessary field calculations to ensure efficient and accurate survey operations. Verify the accuracy and completeness of collected field data. Learns and enforces safety requirements for all field operations. Prepares reports/paperwork for charges to the client. Performs basic First Aid as necessary. Troubleshoot and resolve field-related issues as they arise. Attends training classes as required. What we're looking for: High school diploma or GED 4+ years progressively responsible survey field experience, including crew leadership. Demonstrated experience operating survey equipment, GPS systems, robotic total stations, levels, and data collection devices. Excellent driving record and valid Florida driver's license. Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. May be exposed to severe weather conditions including heavy rain, hot and humid conditions and sun exposure, uneven terrain, swampy or wet areas, and may be exposed to wild animals, alligators, snakes, bees and other insects.
