Job Description

.Position Summary Smith Trucking is seeking a highly motivated Field Geomatics Specialist to join our Construction Technologies team. This is not a traditional land surveying position. Our team specializes in collecting accurate field data using cutting-edge technology including:
RTK GNSS GPS
systems UAV (Drone) mapping Hydrographic surveying Robotic Total Stations Reality Capture Construction as-built documentation This position supports field operations by delivering accurate data that drives production, progress tracking, earthwork verification, and project documentation. The ideal candidate enjoys technology, solving problems, and working outdoors while helping build one of the most advanced construction technology departments in the industry. Primary Responsibilities Survey & GPS Perform construction as-built surveys Collect topographic data using RTK GPS equipment Operate robotic total stations when required Verify finished grades and elevations Establish and maintain project control Perform quality assurance on collected data Drone Operations Operate company UAVs for: Progress documentation Earthwork quantity surveys Stockpile measurements Orthomosaic generation Surface modeling Reality capture Responsibilities include: Flight planning FAA compliance Battery management Mission execution Equipment maintenance Data upload and organization Hydrographic Surveying Operate remote survey boats and sonar equipment to: Survey ponds Retention basins Borrow pits Stormwater facilities Collect bathymetric data for volume calculations and engineering documentation. Data Processing Process field data using software such as: Trimble Business Center Topcon Office Propeller Carlson (preferred) AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred) GIS software (a plus)
Generate:
