The Crew Chief will be responsible for leading field survey crews on a variety of industrial, residential, and commercial surveying projects. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the field. Minimum experience required 10 yrs in surveying with construction staking, boundary surveys, and basic calculations. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a field survey crew in the collection of survey data. Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction staking, as-built, and other land surveying services. Operate and maintain surveying equipment including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors. Read and interpret survey plats, construction plans, legal descriptions, and engineering drawings. Ensure field data is collected accurately and completely for drafting. Coordinate daily field activities and communicate project progress with office staff and project managers. Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working condition. Adhere to company safety policies. Train and mentor crew members. Complete field notes, reports, and documentation in a timely manner. Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or equivalent field surveying experience. General knowledge of land surveying principles, practices, and procedures. Experience with
GPS/GNSS
equipment, robotic total stations, and electronic data collection systems and software. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift and carry surveying equipment and materials as needed. Strong communication and leadership skills. Experience with Carlson equipment and software is preferred but not required.
