Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Kem-Tec, A Group of Companies is a full-service firm based in Eastpointe, MI providing Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Architectural, and Environmental Services across Southeast Michigan.
Overview:
Kem-Tec, A Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead a field crew delivering high-quality surveying services for land development, construction, and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:
Lead a field crew in conducting boundary, topographic, ALTA, and construction staking surveys Operate and maintain survey instruments including total stations, data collectors, GPS, and levels Interpret plans, maps, and legal descriptions to ensure accurate data collection Collaborate with office staff to ensure data is processed accurately and efficiently Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and local regulations
Qualifications:
3+ years of field surveying experience, with at least 1 year as a crew chief Proficiency with survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Topcon, Civil 3D) Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills Valid driver's license and clean driving record required Knowledge of local survey standards and procedures
