Full Job Description Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented (SUE) Utility Location Technician to perform private utility locating and Subsurface Utility Engineering investigations while supporting survey field crews. This role is ideal for someone with strong utility locating experience, knowledge of underground utility infrastructure, and hands-on familiarity with geophysical locating equipment, including pipe and line locators, GPR, GPS, and related field technology.

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities Travel to perform private utility locating and SUE investigations and to support survey field crews. Use underground utility locating and geophysical equipment, including pipe and line locators, GPR, GPS, and related field technology. Perform self-review and peer-review QA/QC checks to support accurate, reliable field deliverables. Coordinate with survey field crews, office personnel, surveying technicians, and engineering staff. Follow division, regional, and company values, policies, and practices within the survey service. Lead by example by demonstrating sound judgment, professionalism, trust, honesty, openness, and strong values. Drive innovation and efficiency in utility locating processes. Manage multiple priorities and projects while supporting project coordination and field execution. Consistently demonstrate critical thinking, clear communication, and a commitment to quality service. Required Experience Strong listening, writing, and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and geophysical locating equipment, including pipe and line locators, GPR, GPS, and related tools. Ability to manage multiple tasks, support project coordination, and interact effectively with other services. Ability to work outdoors in varied field conditions and travel to project sites as needed. Commitment to safety, quality, professionalism, and accurate field documentation. Preferred Qualifications 5 years of utility locating experience preferred. Experience with ground penetrating radar (GPR). Experience coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff. Understanding of survey field procedures and operation of survey field equipment.
Preferred equipment experience includes:
Trimble GPS and Total Station Terrestrial Lidar (Trimble/Regal) GPR (Proceq GS 8000 and GS9000) RD (Radio Detection) & Vivax Metrotech MagEx. Why Join Us?
