This leadership role is responsible for managing survey operations, overseeing staff, ensuring technical quality, and supporting business development efforts across transportation and land development projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the Survey Department, including field crews and office staffOversee workload planning, scheduling, and resource allocationMentor and develop junior survey staff and techniciansEstablish and maintain department standards, procedures, and QA/QC practicesProvide responsible charge and signing/sealing of survey deliverablesOversee preparation and review of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and as-built surveysEnsure compliance with Pennsylvania standards and client requirementsCoordinate with engineering and environmental teams on multidisciplinary projectsSupport PennDOT and municipal project requirementsAssist with proposals, scope development, and fee estimatesDevelop and maintain client relationships and identify growth opportunitiesQualificationsProfessional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Pennsylvania (required)Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)Minimum 8+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership responsibilitiesStrong knowledge of boundary law and surveying principlesFamiliarity with Pennsylvania survey standards and PennDOT requirementsProficiency with survey software (Carlson, Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D)Experience with CADD platforms (AutoCAD/Civil 3D; MicroStation a plus)Experience with GPS, total stations, and data collectorsPreferred QualificationsExperience managing survey teams and multiple concurrent projectsFamiliarity with transportation and infrastructure projectsExisting relationships with PennDOT, municipalities, or regional clientsAdditional InformationWhat We OfferCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceLeadership role within a growing and expanding organizationOpportunity to help build and expand a survey practiceCollaborative, multidisciplinary work environmentProfessional growth and long-term career advancementFor more information, please visit www.socotec.us
