Job DescriptionThe Survey Party Chief will lead the field survey crew and be responsible for the organization, efficiency, and accuracy of work performed and data obtained. The purpose of the Party Chief position is to manage Surveyors and effectively, efficiently and safely carry out duties as assigned.

Oversees the development and execution of construction, right-of-way, control, topographic, and/or other related survey dutiesCollaborates with stakeholders, including local officials, engineers, contractors, and supervisors, during the planning phase of a projectDetermines appropriate surveying techniques to be used on each projectCollaborates with utility companies to ensure surveys are properly executed for public streets/easementsGathers survey data using global positioning systems (GPS) and other surveying tools to map areas and measure angles, distances, and elevationsAnalyzes plans, plats, and legal documents to appropriately plan and schedule workDefines boundaries for property and rights of wayDrafts reports, descriptions, and other documentation for all surveys performedEnsures final maps display a comprehensive and accurate description of the field surveyEnsures the work of all crew members meets standards and that assigned tasks are completed timelyCompletes any surveying tasks crew members are unable to completeAccurately complete administrative forms and reports in a timely fashionAdhere to all rules, regulations, and procedures, including those necessary to maintain required licenses, certifications, and/or registrationsAttend meetings requested by supervisor and communicate effectivelyCarry out job functions with or without supervision and apply common sense instructionsCarry out job functions without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of self/othersEffectively and efficiently carry out written and verbal job-related instructionsExercise courtesy and tact when dealing with othersMaintain acceptable attendance/punctuality standardsMaintain quality and quantity work standardsMaintain appropriate behavior in accordance with Equal Employment Opportunity protocolsRead labels and written instructions, which are typically in EnglishRequest assistance when appropriate, including but not limited to, the safe and efficient use and operation of equipment, tools, machines, and vehiclesRespond to inquiries and/or complaints in a timely and professional mannerSafely perform all job functionsUnderstand and comply with safety, personnel, and other policies and proceduresWork effectively and harmoniously in a culturally and ethnically diverse workforceWork in coordination with othersWork under pressure, which is associated with this type of positionApply supervisory principles to analyze and resolve problemsAppropriately use budgeted funds, personnel, equipment, materials, facilities, timeEffectively give instructions, train, and educateProvide leadership, direction, and positive motivationSet realistic goalsPerforms other related duties as assigned by your manager
QualificationsEducation:
 High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience/Training:
 Considerable knowledge, typically gained from three (3) or more years experience/training in Surveying
MINIMUM ABILITY TO SAFELY USE AND OPERATE THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT
 Equipment typically associated with this position within thirty (30) days
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS
