DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports important engineering and mapping projects that help the bureau. The role involves gathering and interpreting survey data used in construction, design, and land evaluation. As a Surveyor 1, you will perform the following duties:
Survey Coordination:
Coordinate surveying activities for preliminary, construction, and final surveys
Data Review:
Review legal, technical, and professional sources to resolve issues with property boundaries or land features
Field Operations:
Perform surveying tasks that support engineering design and construction projects across assigned regions
Quantity Calculations:
Calculate earth and rock quantities using standard engineering methods for contract determinations
Technical Documentation:
Prepare and revise deed descriptions to ensure clarity and accuracy
Problem Resolution:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Surveyor Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Five years of responsible surveying work, including one year as a chief of party of a wide variety of surveying assignments; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-specialized experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
You must be in possession of a registered surveyor's license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor's license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania.
