If so, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is excited to welcome a motivated Surveyor 1 to contribute to vital field operations for the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR). DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation by completing essential surveying work used for design, construction, and mapping projects across the state. Through your work, you will help to ensure accurate site data and support environmental restoration and safety efforts. As a Surveyor 1, you will perform the following duties:
Survey Coordination:
Lead survey crews and complete field work for preliminary, construction, and final surveys
Data Review:
Gather and analyze information from legal and technical sources to resolve land and boundary concerns
Site Measurements:
Determine elevations, lines, contours, and quantities for engineering and mapping needs
Project Support:
Assist engineers and other staff by providing accurate survey data for design and construction work
Documentation Work:
Prepare or revise deed descriptions and maintain accurate electronic data entries
Field Operations:
Travel to project locations and conduct all survey tasks required to support the bureau's mission Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Ebensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $59,345.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as a Surveyor Technician Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Five years of responsible surveying work, including one year as a chief of party of a wide variety of surveying assignments; and graduation from high school. An Associate Degree in surveying or engineering technology may be substituted for one year of non-specialized experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of a registered surveyor's license as issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, or possession of a registered surveyor's license obtained in another public jurisdiction under requirements which are at least equal to those of Pennsylvania.
