Job Title:
Licensed Land Surveyor Job Description This full-time Licensed Land Surveyor role offers the opportunity to help lead and grow a land surveying and geospatial services business unit that uses the latest technological tools. The position focuses on pursuing, managing, and delivering a wide variety of projects, including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys, construction layout, subdivision platting, reality capture, GIS, and other geospatial services. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, proven project management experience, and an entrepreneurial mindset to build client relationships and support a collaborative, growth-oriented culture. Responsibilities + Lead and manage land surveying and geospatial projects from initiation through completion, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery. + Prepare, instruct, and coordinate the work of field staff performing surveying and geospatial services on assigned projects. + Coordinate with office staff responsible for data processing to ensure accurate, efficient, and consistent project deliverables. + Understand and apply a wide variety of surveying and geospatial technologies and tools, implementing innovative solutions to address client challenges. + Cultivate, develop, and maintain strong client relationships in the local area and beyond to support ongoing and future work. + Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear communication and responsive service throughout each project. + Prepare client deliverables such as legal descriptions, boundary descriptions, boundary resolutions, and cost estimates for project proposals. + Pursue and manage projects involving boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys, construction layout, subdivision platting, reality capture, GIS, and related geospatial services. + Conduct site and field visits as needed to oversee work, verify conditions, and support field crews. + Guide and direct the work of other staff, providing leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance. + Contribute to business development efforts by promoting the firm's surveying and geospatial services and helping to expand the client base. + Support and help grow the surveying and geospatial business unit while actively contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented culture. Essential Skills + Active Tennessee Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license. + 5+ years of experience in the performance and management of land survey projects. + Demonstrated experience with boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys, as well as construction layout and subdivision platting. + Proven ability to manage multiple surveying and geospatial projects simultaneously. + Ability to guide, direct, and coordinate the work of field and office staff. + Strong interpersonal and social skills with the ability and desire to develop and maintain client relationships. + Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to set goals and work diligently to achieve them. + Team-oriented and self-motivated approach with a strong work ethic. + High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work. + Proficiency with land surveying practices, including use of modern surveying instruments and GPS (e.g., Trimble GPS, Topcon). + Experience working with PLS/RLS certifications and stamped survey deliverables. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Civil 3D experience is a plus. + Experience with Sewage Disposal procedures is a plus. + Experience in civil and land development surveying is beneficial. + Experience with ALTA surveys, land development projects, and topographic surveys is advantageous. + Familiarity with reality capture, GIS, and other geospatial services is beneficial. + Demonstrated dedication to fostering teamwork and supporting a positive, collaborative culture. + Ability to market surveying and geospatial services and contribute to business development efforts. Work Environment This is a full-time role, typically 40 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours as project needs require. The position is based in Chattanooga, TN, with work primarily performed in an office environment located near a partnering office, combined with periodic site and field visits. The team uses modern surveying and geospatial technologies, including Trimble GPS, Topcon equipment, Civil 3D, and other tools supporting civil, land development, and
ALTA/NSPS

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chattanooga, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $57.69/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
