Job Description

Eastern Middle TN Site Work / Construction is seeking a Field Survey Technician that will be responsible for collecting precise land data for construction, boundary, and mapping projects, operating specialized equipment like GPS/Total Stations, setting markers, and recording measurements outdoors in various conditions, supporting surveyors by ensuring accurate data for plans, reports, and maps. Key duties include operating equipment, clearing brush, digging for points, inputting data, and assisting with maps, often in a field crew setting, requiring physical stamina and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities Data Collection:
Measure and record distances, angles, elevations, and features using surveying tools (GPS, total stations, levels).
Fieldwork:
Set up equipment, locate property markers, clear lines (brush/chainsaw), dig for points, and drive stakes/rebar.
Data Management:
Transfer field notes to digital formats, process data, and maintain accurate records and files.
Support & Collaboration:
Work with survey party chiefs, engineers, and construction teams; assist with creating plans, maps, and reports using CAD software.
Site Assessment:
Conduct surveys for construction, property lines, environmental impact, and utility location.
Essential Skills & Requirements Technical:
Familiarity with surveying equipment, data collection, and potentially CAD software.
Physical:
Ability to work outdoors in various conditions, walk long distances, stand for extended periods, and lift heavy equipment.
Soft Skills:
Strong concentration, problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
Education:
Typically a high school diploma, with on-the-job training common for entry-level roles. Work Environment Primarily outdoors, on diverse terrains, for construction sites, roads, property boundaries, etc.. May involve travel, overnight stays, and working in remote areas.
