Full Job Description What We're Looking For:
The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for planning and directing daily field activities, leading and mentoring survey crews, collecting and verifying accurate geospatial data, and ensuring the quality and integrity of all survey deliverables. The Survey Crew Chief processes field data, retraces and establishes property boundaries, prepares maps, reports, and final survey documents for review by a Registered Land Surveyor, and serves as a key technical resource throughout the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires strong leadership, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to safety, precision, and delivering high-quality surveying solutions that support Barge Design Solutions' clients and project teams. Responsibilities Assists in performing a subset of tasks for project planning including pricing, planning, estimation, and coordination of tasks for a project. Leads field efforts with Clients, Project Managers, Managers, Surveyors, Geomaticist, stakeholders, and others solving issues and challenges that arise in the field. Takes measurements and collect information using high tech equipment for a variety of various projects in various Business Units. Analyzes survey data and make calculations. Drafts plans and plot data using computer software. Prepares finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports. Sets out reference points on mining and construction activities. Prepares and reviews finished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, corner records, and other survey reports. Reviews field data, reports, and maps to ensure proper QA techniques, provides feedback and coaching back to project team. Conducts site visits ensuring proper QC standards are followed.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
Two year degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience, or other relevant combination of education and/ or experience. Skilled in the use and maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, data collectors, level rods, etc.). Strong working knowledgeable in all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, etc. Ability to effectively instruct, direct, and lead others in the field. Strong knowledge of field surveying practices and procedures. Familiarity with office surveying practices and procedures. Why join us?
