What they do
A Surveyor measures the surface of the Earth and collects data used to make maps, set boundaries, and determine the shape and contour of sections of land. Uses global positioning system (GPS) and global information system (GIS) technology to make measurements. May specialize in measurements to determine airspace boundaries; may conduct marine or hydrographic surveys to measure bodies of water and determine shorelines and water flow and depth.

Please Note:
This role requires heavy travel. Site survey work may require travel up to 6 days per week , and out-of-state projects may require being on the road for up to 14 days at a time . If you enjoy traveling, working independently, and being in the field, this could be a great fit. Our office is located in Austin, TX , and candidates should live in or near the Austin area.What You'll Do:
Travel throughout Texas and across the country completing telecom site surveys and field assignments Complete detailed telecom site surveys from the property line to splice point, handhole, or other network connection point Survey and document telco rooms, pathways, equipment, and existing infrastructure Create accurate field sketches and telco room drawings Complete equipment and infrastructure inventories Collect required measurements, specifications, photos, and other field data Complete site visit checklists and client-required survey documentation Perform general telecom fielding and data collection using Katapult Review your field data before leaving the site to make sure information is complete and accurate Communicate field conditions, questions, and potential issues back to the project team Work independently while staying in regular communication with project managers and the rest of the teamWhat We're Looking For:
Previous telecom site survey experience is required Experience performing site surveys for major telecom providers is strongly preferred Familiarity with fielding from the property line to splice points, handholes, telco rooms, and other telecom infrastructure Experience collecting measurements, equipment inventories, specifications, photos, sketches, and site documentation Familiarity with Katapult and telecom field data collection Comfortable using mobile apps, tablets, and other field technology Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites and assignments Strong attention to detail — accurate field information is critical to the engineering work that follows Good communication and organization skills Comfortable working outdoors and walking several miles per day Willing and able to travel extensively Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements Ability to meet company and client background-screening requirements Travel Is a Big Part of This Job We want to be upfront about the travel commitment. Depending on the project, you may: Travel up to 6 days per week while completing site surveys Work out of state for up to 14 days at a time Fly or drive to project locations throughout the country Stay overnight in hotels while assigned to projects Drive between multiple sites during the workday Walk several miles each day while completing surveys and field work If you're looking for a primarily office-based position, this probably isn't the right fit.
