Full Job Description Overview:

Position Summary:
The Sr. Landman provides primary land support for the activities of the Business Development department and is responsible for land issues relating to and arising from exploration and production activities of the company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Work with Business Development group on acquisitions and divestitures, including: reviewing land records, lease records, easements, and other land contracts relating to potential acquisitions; coordinating outside brokers and land personnel as needed to support acquisition efforts; and assisting in the review and preparation of documents for divestiture of company assets. Negotiate and purchase oil, gas & mineral leases, surface leases, easements, water rights, surface damages, etc. with surface and mineral owners. Negotiate and purchase assignments, term assignments or farm-ins of outside wells and acreage. Manage brokers and field staff, including scheduling, review of work product, and billings. Work with regulatory and geology to obtain legal well locations within drilling program area. Review, analysis, and curing of title to limit corporate liability. Work with outside legal counsel to maintain good standing with regulatory agencies. Maintain availability and status of land within drilling program area and make available to other disciplines.
Prepare related documents such as:
JOAs, farm-ins, unit designations, assignments, AMIs, etc. Calculate and maintain division of interest and joint interest billings for all wells. Manage AFEs relating to notification and approval of joint interest partners. Maintain comprehensive file for each well within your area of responsibility. Foster a positive relationship with surface and mineral owners in drilling area. Work with outside legal counsel to resolve complex title defects. Supports the owner relations coordinator, as needed.
Required Skills:
Strong understanding of legal instruments relating to real estate and oil & gas Exceptional written and oral communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with Excel emphasis Must be able to work in team environment Strong analytical and negotiation skills Previous experience as field landman performing leasing, title, or curative work Desired skills: Knowledge of land software system: Tobin, Quorum, Landworks, etc. Strong time management and scheduling ability 5+ years field land experience, including leasing, title, and curative work Familiarity with W TX land and mineral ownership
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree 5+ years field land experience, including leasing, title, and curative work
Physical Requirements:
Office setting with adjustable desk for sitting/standing Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
