Job Description
Our client, a well-established civil engineering consulting firm with a strong presence across Washington, is seeking a Survey Lead to oversee both field and office surveying operations. With a substantial and steady backlog in the region, this position is focused heavily on project delivery, team leadership, and staff development. Business development responsibilities are minimal, as the team already maintains consistent project flow. This role can be based out of Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver, or Yakima•with flexibility to work remotely . Candidates must be located within Washington State to support regional projects, teams, and occasional field coordination as needed. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate daily activities of field crews and office survey staff for a wide range of civil infrastructure and land development projects. Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of survey tasks to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with project scopes and deadlines. Perform QA/QC on survey deliverables, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, construction staking, and as-builts. Mentor, train, and develop junior surveyors and technicians, promoting technical growth and strong field performance. Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure high-quality outcomes. Manage resource allocation, workflow planning, and field equipment needs. Ensure all operations adhere to company standards, safety protocols, and Washington state surveying regulations. Qualifications Washington Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license required. Candidates must reside in Washington State. 6-10+ years of increasingly responsible surveying experience, including both field and office environments. Proven leadership experience managing survey crews or coordinating multi-team operations. Strong technical proficiency with modern surveying equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, Civil 3D). Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license and ability to support field work as needed.
