Job Description

Survey Department Manager / Geomatics Lead Join a premier, fast-growing engineering and surveying firm with a dominant presence across West Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all aspects of the surveying and geomatics department, including multiple field crews and technical support staff Manage a diverse portfolio of survey projects across public infrastructure and private development sectors Drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and expanding relationships with existing clients Collaborate with leadership across offices to ensure long-term department performance, profitability, and sustainability Plan, organize, and direct the work of survey crews, technicians, and internal staff to ensure efficient operations Provide mentorship and leadership to develop the next generation of survey professionals Coordinate project assignments, schedules, and deliverables to ensure deadlines and client expectations are consistently met Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency across all survey work Qualifications Active Professional Surveyor (PS) license in West Virginia (or ability to obtain quickly) 5+ years of experience in a leadership or project management capacity within surveying/geomatics Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage multiple concurrent projects Strong business development mindset with the ability to grow client relationships Experience with Trimble equipment and modern survey technology preferred Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to prioritize and adapt based on project scope and deadlines High level of accountability, both independently and within a team environment Why This Opportunity Stands Out Clear path to leadership growth, build and shape your own department No ceiling on advancement; performance-driven progression, not tenure-based Strong backlog of work across transportation, land development, and public infrastructure High visibility role with direct impact on the firm's regional growth Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture where leadership is empowered; not micromanaged Get job alerts Share Copied to clipboard Related roles PM/Estimator Heavy Civil Construction
