COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, MIT CLIMATE AND SUSTAINABILITY
CONSORTIUM, Office of the Vice President for Energy and Climate (VPEC), will focus on strategically developing, implementing and managing all aspects of communications for the MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium (MCSC). The MIT Climate and Sustainability Consortium plays a critical role in linking academic innovations to practical commercial results and advancing the development of pathways for achieving climate and sustainability impact in complex, global systems. The Communications Officer manages all content for the MCSC, including conceptualizing, writing, and approving content for a variety of communications and outreach projects. They develop articles for MIT News and the MCSC website, which include research and outcomes spotlights that reflect the progress of the MCSC; faculty and student profiles; new program, initiative, or member announcements; and event recaps. REQUIRED
: Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field; a minimum of five years of professional communications experience in higher education or at a research institution or in journalism, public relations, or marketing; experience planning and implementing communications strategies; excellent written and verbal communication, editorial, and presentation skills; experience with print and digital communication, user interface trends, and web design best practices; ability to translate complex technical ideas into clear language; ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team, build productive relationships with faculty/staff/external audiences; and strong organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills.
PREFERRED
: Master's degree. This is a 2-year term appointment, renewable on mutual agreement. 6/1/2026
