Electronic Technician Job Description This role focuses on electronic and basic mechanical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of semiconductor modules and related systems. You will perform SMT and through-hole soldering, wire and assemble electrical systems, conduct experiments on high voltage and high power devices, and document test results using standard office software. The position suits a hands-on technician who enjoys working with test equipment, following schematics, and contributing to a clean, collaborative, and well-organized environment. Responsibilities Perform electronic and basic mechanical assembly of semiconductor modules using SMT and through-hole components. Carry out electronic testing of products to verify performance and identify issues. Assemble electrical systems, including wiring of systems, panels, and cabinets according to schematics. Conduct and monitor experiments on high voltage, high power devices while following safety procedures. Utilize electrical schematics to wire systems and cabinets accurately and efficiently. Use computer programs, including word processing and spreadsheet software, to log test data and maintain documentation. Operate and interpret readings from electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, where applicable. Troubleshoot electronic assemblies and systems to identify root causes of failures and implement corrective actions. Follow IPC standards and company procedures to ensure high-quality soldering and assembly work. Collaborate with team members to support continuous improvement in assembly, testing, and documentation processes. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT and through-hole soldering. Proficiency in SMT and through-hole soldering techniques for electronic assemblies. IPC 610 or IPC 620 certification. Experience in electronic testing and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and systems. Ability to read and utilize electrical schematics for wiring systems and cabinets. Ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word to log testing information and maintain documentation. Basic mechanical skills and familiarity with hand tools for mechanical assembly tasks. Experience with electronic assembly, including wiring and integration of components into systems. Ability to use computer programs to log test data and support documentation workflows. Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality standards in soldering and assembly work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience utilizing multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers for testing and troubleshooting is preferred. Hands-on experience with surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole components in a production or lab environment. Familiarity with PCB-level work, including interpreting schematics and working with test equipment on circuit boards. Understanding of J-STD and IPC-related standards for soldering and electronic assembly. Comfort working with high voltage and high power devices under established safety procedures. Strong organizational skills for maintaining clear and accurate test records and documentation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Exton, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
