Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the High-Speed Rail Authority's (Authority) Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Senior Transportation Engineer (Sen TE) serves as an Engineering Technical Lead. The Sen TE is responsible for providing technical oversight for the Civil Engineering Unit to support the design and construction of facilities such as train infrastructure and maintenance facilities at the Authority, a complex railroad megaproject. The Sen TE ensures that all civil systems and designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and State of California regulations including sustainability and accessibility and provides technical guidance and oversight throughout the project design and construction phases. The Sen TE represents the Authority at various meetings, with contractors, consultants, and representatives from other federal, state, regional, and local agencies. The Sen TE prepares correspondence between contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders, regarding technical engineering issues. You will find additional information about the job in the . Working Conditions Part-time telework is available for this position for California residents based on the requirements of the position and may be discussed during the interview process. While working on-site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled area which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. The incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen. Employee must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities, and complete tasks or projects with short notice. Employee must develop and maintain cooperative working relationships and display professionalism and respect for others in all contact opportunities. While working at a construction site, the incumbent may be exposed to hazards such as unguarded machinery, heavy construction equipment, high-voltage electricity, and hazardous materials such as paints, solvents, silica dust, or other dangerous construction materials.
