IMEG is hiring a Surveying Intern in Rock Island, Illinois. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, site drainage and grading design, and other project support while learning the Civil Engineering trade. You'll work closely with experienced engineers and consultants, support coordination across multiple disciplines, and contribute to transportation, municipal, and bridge projects. This role also involves working within project budgets and collaborating with cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations while supporting resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure. Not available What You'll Do Assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, permit applications, and site drainage and grading design. Support project design work related to discipline systems according to code and company standards. Research resources for commercially available equipment. Help maintain client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation. Coordinate design and scheduling activities with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment supplier teams. Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress. Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check. Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information. Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement. Work within project budgets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. What You'll Bring Education and Experience Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred Skills and Abilities May be required to assist with field duties like surveying and materials testing Strong interest in design consulting Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull Will have exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises About the Team A multi-office civil team active in transportation, municipal, and bridge work across the Quad Cities region. Construction materials testing, CE&I, bridge inspection, and roadway design experience. Municipal infrastructure work in Bloomington, Moline, Peoria, and at Rock Island Arsenal. State of Illinois Pay Range:
$18.00-$20.00 per hour The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location. Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
