Traffic Engineer (EIT) | Transportation Consulting Firm | Rhode Island / Massachusetts A well-established transportation engineering consulting firm is seeking a Traffic Engineer (EIT) to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from planning and analysis through final design and construction support. Working alongside experienced transportation professionals, this individual will contribute to a variety of roadway and traffic engineering projects throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts while developing the technical and professional skills needed for long-term career growth. Responsibilities Perform field investigations and traffic data collection. Support traffic analysis, traffic simulation, traffic impact studies, and safety evaluations. Assist with traffic signal design, traffic planning, and transportation engineering studies. Contribute to roadway design efforts, including: Intersection design Traffic management plans Pavement marking and signing plans Utility coordination Quantity take-offs and cost estimates Prepare technical reports, specifications, and engineering documentation. Assist with regulatory reviews involving local, state, planning, zoning, and environmental requirements. Participate in construction-phase services, including field observations and project support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation and infrastructure projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program. Minimum of 2 years of transportation engineering experience. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or actively pursuing licensure. Experience with RIDOT and/or MassDOT projects is highly desirable. Understanding of AASHTO and MUTCD standards. Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Synchro, HCS, and GIS platforms is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Self-motivated professional with strong attention to detail. Involvement in professional organizations or community groups is beneficial.
