The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), Pavement Management and Pavement Design Bureau's day-to-day operations including personnel and programs therein. Day-to-day operations include development, design and review of structural pavement thickness for NMDOT maintenance, rehabilitation, and reconstruction projects.
Provide oversight of pavement management:
the assessments of both current and future pavement conditions, establish methodology, and procedures for collecting pavement data. As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to received three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government. Why does the job exist? This position will provide support for the NMDOT Pavement Bureau in performing tasks using Pavement Management System database development and implementation, pavement condition data collection and quality control and pavement design for State Transportation Implementation Plan (STIP) projects. How does it get done? The primary responsibilities of this position will include: Provide support and directions for the collection of pavement condition distress data. Provide functional support of the day to day operations of the Pavement Management System database (PMS) such as pavement data interpretation and performing pavement treatment scenarios. Develop, design and review of structural pavement thickness for maintenance, rehabilitation and reconstruction projects. Attend project development design meetings and field reviews to provide pavement and materials design recommendations. Create pavement conditions reports using pavement management system modules. Learn and implement pavement engineering design fundamentals. Review construction plans and attend required meetings and field inspections. Review pavement materials specifications. Who are the customers? Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP). NM State, New Mexico Department of Transportation Districts, NMDOT Roadway Design Centers, construction managers, and project development engineers. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years of relevant experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Work is generally performed in an office setting with field work in varying weather conditions on multiple projects. May work extended hours and statewide travel including some overnight travel will be required. Sitting/standing/driving for extended periods of time and extended periods of work at a computer terminal with some bending may be required. Lifting up to fifty pounds may be required.
