- This position has the flexibility to work in either Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Nashville, TN.
About This Role:
Are you interested in contributing to transportation infrastructure improvements? CDM Smith's Transportation team in Tennessee is calling for dynamic individuals to join us. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a team working to improve the long-term mobility of both people and goods.Key Responsibilities:
- Work on innovative roadway design projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Collaborate with technical specialists who boast extensive expertise in a variety of design areas, including roads, bridges, structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, public transit, and more
- Review draft designs to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and firm policies, updating design requirements as necessary
- Conduct site reviews and inspections of transportation structures, guaranteeing the highest quality of construction
- Work closely with sales staff to develop proposals that meet current and potential clients' unique needs, fostering strong client relationships
- Attend conferences and symposia to stay current on industry trends and innovations while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staffAt CDM Smith, we're shaping roads and contributing to the future of transportation.
Skills & Abilities
- Expert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
- Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.) Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
- Professional engineering (PE) license
- 10 years of related experience
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands #LI-MS1 #
